“HEY TOTO, WE ARE GOING TO KANSAS…”
Kristy Walker’s u17 team has captured yet another Championship in what can only be described as one of the most absolute successful campaigns in recent club history. After capturing the Spring Far West Regional League and the Cal South National cup, this time the girls won the Western Regionals (in Albuquerque). They will now be heading to Overland Park, Kansas (a suburb of Kansas City) to compete for the National championship later this month. In the Western Regionals our u17s won all 3 games in pool play, beating the Oregon state champion 6-0, the Washington state champion 2-1, and the New Mexico state champion 5-0. In the quarters, they disposed of the Nevada state champions 3-0 before facing long time rival So Cal Blues in the semi-finals. After beating the Blues 2-0, they went on to the finals where they were matched against the reigning National champions, De Anza Force from Cal North. Our girls won 1-0 in a game played in extreme heat and altitude (over 5,000 feet high). In all, they outscored their opponents 19-1. Way to go girls and good luck in Kansas City!!!
