Surf Cup Aug 1 - 3 - Champions
Kristy Walker’s Gu 17 and GU 18 team both completed successful tournaments in Del Mar at the San Diego Surf Cup XXIX tournament.
Kristy’s Gu18 earned an opportunity at another chance to play the Vancouver White Caps FC (Canada) in the final, only this time the score was reversed! In the opening match of pool play Real So Cal lost 3 to 1 to the Canadians. Both of these competitive teams made it to the final of the super group…..however, this time Real So Cal battled from behind after being scored upon early in the first half. Real So Cal scored three goals in the second half to complete another successful Surf Cup as Champions. The history of this team includes six consecutive College Surf Cup titles and two summer Surf Cup wins. The MVP award of this tournament went to forward Ariana Martinez. Congratulations to Kristy Walker and her GU18 team who will start the season with two back-to-back summer tournament wins, Pleasanton Rage College Showcase and Surf Cup XXlX. Kristy’s Gu18 team is ranked #1 in California and #1 in region 4. They currently hold rank as the second place team in the nation.
